I posted here about a no start problem 3 months ago. It was getting cold here so I didnt spend a lot of time on it, since I couldnt ride anyway, worked on my 37 Ford coupe instead.
Finally broke down and bought a manual, went through the steps they recommend for a no start condition. I had replaced the battery, so I charged it up and pulled the tank and seat off to get to the plug, this was after checking all the safety and interlock switches, and making sure I had the fuel turned on.
The plug was firing but instead of sparking to the ground electrode, the spark was travelling to the base of the plug where the threads are. I never saw that before, so I ran down to the local store and grabbed a nre plug. She fired up and ran like a top.
It kind of suprised me that that single problem would create a no start condition where she would even hit a lick, but thats what it was, I even cleaned the plug and tried it again, but it would not spark through the ground post, instead it would jump a gap of at least 5 times the distance to get to the threaded base of the plug.
Go figure.
Regards
Gary
